ABOUT US

FWEA is a community organisation committed to making Waldorf education accessible to children and families on the South Coast.

We provide opportunities for families to experience Waldorf education and the ideas of Rudolf Steiner through learning, play and community.
We believe it is important to have a Waldorf educational community here on the Fleurieu — one that supports children to develop their creativity, curiosity, confidence and connection with others and the world around them.
Currently, FWEA provides playgroup opportunities and homeschool tutoring for school-aged children, with the aim of continuing to develop and expand Waldorf education opportunities for local families.

:: TERM 3 REFLECTIONS : PYGMY POSSUM PLAYGROUP :: Peace, support and a sense of rhythm out of the home were all mentioned in refections of this term from families who continue to join Pygmy Possums on a weekly basis. The regular connections and growing friendships that have been unfolding over the year has brought a joyful sense of community and shared care among the families in our playgroup sessions. At this time in early family life, authentic support and positive space for mother/cargiver and child to consistently dip into is like a balm of comfort for each parent at Pygmy Possums Playgroup. We hold the reverence of childhood and the profound journey of parenthood at the heart of all of our careful preparations and offerings. Without judgement or perfection, a warm and caring place to land with your dearest loves on the easful mornings and the most challenging. We are here with a cuppa, rhythm, play, friends, warm morning tea, story and song to soothe our whole being as we reconnect to the magic of daily life. It has been a privilege to witness the unfolding of connections that has created this warm place to land where peace, support and rhythm is felt and experienced. It is such a joy to be at playgroup. We thank all families who are connected to the playgroup and those who are on our wait list to join. :: TERM 3 REFLECTIONS : HAKEA :: We returned to Hakea this term to find our outdoor learning environment beautifully transformed. The children delighted in exploring the larger sandpit, stepping across the new log scramble and creating all manner of things in the renewed mud kitchen. We are so grateful to the wonderful members of our community who gave their time, energy and care to the working bee and helped create such a beautiful space for the children to play and learn.As we settled into our winter rhythm, we also had the joy of welcoming new children into the Hakea group. It was lovely to watch them find their place within the familiar flow of our days, supported so naturally by the other children. Our winter mornings were filled with seasonal songs, finger rhymes and stories, and we journeyed beneath the earth as little gnomes searching for sparkling crystals. A particularly special moment came when some of the children began creating stories of their own, gathering simple props and inviting their friends to listen as they shared their imaginative tales.Then, slowly, winter began to soften into spring. The days grew warmer, flowers appeared throughout the garden and we spent time in the meadow making daisy chains together. Our songs, stories and activities changed with the season, leading us towards our Spring Gathering. It was a beautiful way to finish the term, coming together with our Hakea families to share food, make flower garlands and celebrate the arrival of spring.Thank you to all of our Hakea families for your warmth, support and contributions throughout the term.
